Denys DUNCAN Obituary
DUNCAN, Denys William (Bill) October 25, 1953 - March 4, 2018 "Child of God - Called Home to Eternity in Christ Jesus" Denys William (Bill) Duncan was born on October 25, 1953 at Grace Hospital in Vancouver, B.C., and died in God's Grace on March 4, 2018, in his 64th year, less than 2 1/2 months after being diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer. Bill was blessed with a great many friends, neighbors and fellow spiritual travelers during his trajectory in life. He leaves behind his cherished wife Barbara, and daughters Andrea and Danielle. Predeceased by his father Denys, mother Mabel, and brother Donald. Survived by his younger sister Brenda Reid; nephews Josh (Carla) and Jason (Kim); and grandnieces and nephews, Avery, Kohen, Zackary and Jonah. On his wife's side there are brothers-in law Ray Campbell (Shirley) and Garrett Brisdon (Merina), nephews Kevin (Crystal), Jayce (Mel), and nieces Cheryl (Kevin) and Dayonne (Henning). In Bill's absence there is great heartache but there is also great hope. We are so fortunate that death doesn't extinguish our memories of love. On the contrary, death is the gateway that releases the eternal energy of love into eternity. Love is the reason why we live. Bill was blessed to have known this. Sharing our experience, strength and hope, with those we meet along the intersections and turnpikes of life, is our mission. Bill learned what his life's calling was at a relatively early age. Now, with the task of his life's work completed, thanks to a God of his understanding, his Christian faith, and the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous, it is time to move onward. For his reward, Bill has been called home to be with God in the eternity of God's love. The most difficult part of dying, is having to say good bye. The process is hard enough for the individual who must convey farewell, but the finality of a last goodbye is especially difficult for those who are the recipients. Please bring your memories and join us in our last goodbye to Bill, on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 2:00PM, Valley Church, 1160 East 29th Street, North Vancouver, BC. All are welcome. The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to Pastor Owen Scott and his staff at Lynn Valley Full Gospel, Dr. Aileen Moric, Dr. Kevin McLeod, and the end of life professionals at the North Shore Hospice, and the North Shore Palliative and Supportive Care Program, for the exceptional level of care, love and grace which they extended to Bill during his final passage.
