DON PERCY Obituary

PERCY, DON The Percy family is devastated at the sudden death of Don Percy - the biggest, strongest limb in the family tree. A modern 'Bull of the Woods', third-generation in the coastal logging industry, Don was the principal of the Percy Logging group of companies. He was a leader of men: courageous, calm and fair. He inspired loyalty and admiration in many. To his extended family he was the 'Gentle Giant': a listener and advisor, a great conversationalist, perceptive, funny and direct. His sharp intellect and often quirky point-of-view, his beautiful smile, and a pat on the back were given to us freely. And always he cared, and was there. For the last decade he cared particularly for our father George-now 100 years old-with amazing dedication. Always with his light touch and gentle strength. To his own family Don was a loving and steadfast husband, father and grandpa. He and Elizabeth have created a close and loving family, to which he brought his personal ethics and integrity, his self-effacing 'bigness,' and always his kind heart. As the family grew with spouses and babies, so did his happiness. He was a man at peace with his life, a man who lived as he wanted to live, and did right as he saw fit. He has lifted us all with his example. Don is survived by his wife Elizabeth, two children and five grandchildren (who of course adore Grandpa.) Also by father George, brother George (Maria), sister Hilary (Rodger), and nieces and nephews who thought he was just the best. No service by his request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.

I am saddened to hear this unexpected news. My condolences are extended to the Percy family. Don and I were close friends in high school and university and there were many good times during our pursuit of knowledge and adventure.
He was a fine gentleman with great integrity, humor, generosity, and compassion for others.

I am shocked and saddened at the news of Don's passing. To Elizabeth, Lara, and Daryl, I send my love and hugs. Don was such a kind, funny, caring and lovely guy with a great sense of humour and a joie de vivre beyond compare. After we moved away from Spencer Court, I didn't see him much. The last time I ran into Don was in the parking lot of Whole Foods about 3 years ago and he greeted me as if time had not passed. Favourite memory...when he single-handedly lifted my jeep to help me when I had somehow turned it sideways backing down my driveway in the snow!! He was always there when I needed help. To his family...may you find peace in knowing that Don will always be remembered with a smile.

Very sad to hear about the passing of Don. I knew Don through business at Vancouver Mill Machinery and also at RVYC. We had several memorable conversations on the docks at Coal Harbour. He will be missed.

I am so saddened by the news of Uncle Don's abrupt passing. It is the most difficult kind of loss, and one that resonates throughout your community of friends. He was a great man. I enjoyed his grace and wit the few times I met him at Maria and George's, as well as his lovely family. Most of all, I admired the support he gave my lifelong friends, Marina, Tania and Alex, the extent of which I am deeply aware. I have a profound respect for Uncle Don, and will always admire him greatly. He was an example to us all, a role model for men, and I and my family share in your loss. Our deepest condolences and support. He was a light in a great family.

We are so sad to hear of Don's passing. He was a great friend who was always willing to help. Our memories are of times when he, Elizabeth and the children were onboard Charmer around Cortes Island. Wonderful memories we will always cherish.

So sad. Don was larger than life. His sense of humor and wit and banter was fun to play with. He was a good and loyal friend, always offering his support and help when the need arose. He will be missed. '

To all the Percy family from The Ralstons Family our warmest and sincere sympathies. We have lost a dear friend. Don always took the time to visit his dear friend David Ralston and always made him laugh. He was always there to help or just say hello. He had a great sense of humour. When he will ask you, how are you? He meant it and was there to listen. He was a friend you could truly trust in every way. He left us too soon and will be greatly missed, by his wonderful family, by his friends and everyone who had contact with him. He will be remembered for a long, long time for being a generous and warm, honest, loving human being.
