Dorothy "Dot" Muriel Wilkinson (née Stevenson) passed quietly in her sleep on the morning of May 30, 2024. Born in Calgary on September 18, 1931, Dot lived a full, busy life and touched the lives of innumerable people along the way.
Following attendance at Kitsilano Secondary School, Dot met the love of her life, Rundle. They soon married and settled on a small farm in Ladner.
Dorothy enjoyed a long and satisfying career working in secondary school kitchens, teaching in training kitchens, and cooking in hospitals. She took pride in providing well-prepared meals at Delta Hospital for twelve years, during which time the kitchen team members offered meals fondly described as "Delta Hotel meals."
Following her retirement, Dot enjoyed tending her garden and became well known locally for the sale of any excess fresh fruit and vegetables produced in the orchard and many gardens.
Dot loved all her family dearly and always had a chair in her garden inviting visitors to enjoy the beauty of her garden labours and another for visiting in her kitchen while she prepared delicious, made-with-love family dinners.
Wherever Dot travelled, she especially loved to go thrifting with an eye for beautiful and useful items.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Rundle; daughters Melinda (George) and Randi (Terry); daughter-in-law Linda; sons Garret (Bronwen) and Travis (Chris); eight dearly loved grandchildren; four beautiful great-grandchildren; and her special, forever friend Donna.
Dorothy is predeceased by her eldest son, Myler; sisters Irene Palmer, Hazel Smith and Kathleen "Babe" Stevenson; and twin brothers Bill and Don Stevenson.
