Gerald MOULDS Obituary

MOULDS, Gerald William 1936 - 2021 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband and Poppy on July 5, 2021. Gerry was born in Vancouver in 1936 and grew up in the Marpole area. He attended Magee High School where he was well known for his track and field accomplishments. He received his Bachelors Degree in Education at UBC , and later his Masters at the University of Idaho. He began his career as a teacher in Creston where he met his wife and started a family. His career in education included teaching and administration, eventually becoming Superintendent in the Boundary District and finally in Delta. He later took a temporary position as Executive Director at the Delta Community Living Society, which lasted for 13 years. Our dad was a pillar of strength for our family and was always there to offer help and support without hesitation. In memory of our father, in lieu of flowers, we felt he would want us to honour his dedication to family and support brain cancer research in BC. donate.bccancerfoundation.com/goto/Gerald_Moulds Gerry is survived by his wife Shirley (nee Chadwick); sons William (Christina); daughters Emma, Sarah and Mary; son Mike (Joanne) and their sons Christopher, Ryan and Brandon; daughter Susan Stickley (Moulds) (Mike) and their daughters Jordan, Madyson and Seanne. We are truly grateful for the care and support provided by the Peritoneal Dialysis Unit at Surrey Memorial and the caring staff at Waterford Long Term Care. And Pop … I see the Moon .. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021, at 1:30 pm at the Coast Tsawwassen Inn, 1665 56th Street, Delta BC. A light luncheon will be served after the service.

Gerry was a mentor to me at DCLS many years ago early in my career. I am now the Executive Director of a similar Community Based Organization and think of his advice to me often. His encouragement is his legacy to me.

My deepest condolences to family and friends. He spoke of you often with great love.

His advocacy for Celiac supportive environments was before his time.

Hi Shirley and family. So sad to hear that Gerry passed away. I have so many great memories of your family. I still remember getting ready to start high school, and you lived across the street from us and he called me over to show me the schedules he had been working on and showed me what my classes would be and who my teachers would be; so many memories of babysitting and school. Mom sends her condolences. Debi Sand

So sad to hear of Gerry's passing. It's been a long time but I still have a fond remembrance of friendships made in Harrison. Keep all your happy memories close to your heart.

Gerry made a huge contribution to the community of Delta through the School District, DCLS and his work bringing board governance to a wide variety of organizations.

He was a strong leader with great vision for whatever he was trying to accomplish. Gerry did a wonderful job of bringing DCLS back from the brink of disaster. He was always willing to try new solutions to old problems and not afraid to make a mistake. Although he often displayed a gruff exterior he was kind and generous with a warm heart. He helped me a number of times and I knew I could always count on Gerry. He often had a view which was contrary to the "crowd" and he was right more often that not. I'll miss him and our occasional early morning breakfasts.

My condolences Shirley to you and your family.
