Gwendolyn Halston Obituary

It's with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gwendolyn Elsie Dora Halston (Boarman) on January 1st, 2026. Born February 15, 1933, in London, England. A cherished matriarch of both the family she was born into and the family she created, her passing truly marks the end of an era.

Married to Ronald Halston, 1953, Kent, England. (Deceased April 2021)

She leaves behind a lasting legacy through her children: Christine (late Ken Trimark), Valerie (Merle Burton), Clive (Patti), Mark (Maureen), Paul (Lorinda), Keith (Diane), Kathleen (Kevin McDonald), and Jennifer (Laurie Waddell). Survived by 21+ grandchildren and 13+ great-grandchildren. A continual part of our family has been Caitlin Herman and David Hilton. Survived by sister Julie (Malcolm Swales), plus many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by siblings William Boarman and Yvonne Cardwell.

In 1971, they immigrated to Canada with their eight children, ranging in age from six months to sixteen years, but "8 was never enough." Hundreds of other children were entrusted to their care.

After a short stay in North Vancouver, they were transferred to Port Alberni for eight years. In 1979, they settled in Tsawwassen, where they spent the next 43 years together and became respected members of the community. In 2022, Mum moved into The Waterford in Tsawwassen and enjoyed a special "Sister-hood" with other residents.

She was actively involved in the Girl Guides both in England and Canada. The Foresters, Foster Parent Association, church choir, the gardening club, and the Order of Eastern Star, to name a few. She was instrumental in the integration of children with special needs to mainstream school systems. Her hobbies were many and varied, always creative.

A service to celebrate Mum's remarkable life will be held on May 23rd, 3:00 p.m. at St. David's Church, Tsawwassen.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Jeremy's Memorial Foundation, an organization close to Mom's heart. http://jeremysmemorialfoundation.com/
