SCHELLHASE, Hans-Ulf

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Hans-Ulf Schellhase on February 13, 2025.

Hans-Ulf was born on September 18, 1938 in Lauenburg, Germany. He studied Maths and Sciences at universities in Vienna and Hamburg and immigrated to Canada in 1967, where he completed his studies at the University of Calgary.

He began working for his family business in Hamburg, and in Canada, worked at Esso, SAIT, The University of Calgary (Kananaskis Centre), and he retired from Powertech Labs (B.C. Hydro) as a research chemist.

Hans met his wife in Calgary and was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Coralie; three children Denise (David), Giselle (Jason), Marcus (Ida); his grandchildren Jakob, Sienna, Ava, Ryker and Sebastian; the Schellhase, Horstmann, and Hirsch clans in Germany; the Barrie clan in Alberta; and many very dear friends.

Hans will be remembered for his volunteer work with Agape and Good Shepherd Street Ministries, The Delta Naturalist Society, Sacred Heart Church, and The Delta Hospice. He also gave his time to teach Christian meditation. Hans was an avid lover of nature as well as the Arts.

Special thanks go out to the South Delta Parkinson Support Group, the caring staff at the Irene Thomas Hospice in Delta, and his caregivers Delia, Samantha and Cecile.

A funeral mass and reception was held on on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Parkinson B.C., Irene Thomas Hospice or a Charity of Your Choice.
