1950 - 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Howard, who left us peacefully on January 19, 2025, at Irene Thomas Hospice after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Vancouver, Howard spent his entire life in Ladner, where he built a home, a family, and a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Ida, his cherished daughter Sarah and son-in-law Mark, his sister Bette Jean (Al), along with many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Elmore and Rose Ayers, and his sister Shirley Doolan.
Howard was a man who found joy in the little things. He and Ida built their home in Ladner in 1973, a labour of love filled with endless projects and a beautifully tended garden. He loved spending time in Osoyoos, BC, where he could often be found kayaking on the lake, soaking in the beauty of nature. His love of cars led him to Area 27 Motorsport Park and countless car shows.
A celebration of Howard's life will be held on February 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Ladner United Church, 4960 48th Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Delta Hospital Auxiliary.
Howard's legacy is one of hard work, adventure, and unwavering love for family and friends. His laughter, warmth, and larger-than-life spirit will live on in the places he cherished, the people he loved, and the stories shared around the dinner table. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

My kindest thoughts are with you in the passing of Howard. All of you showed a heart of gold to the school community when Sarah was our student. To me you had smiles, willingness and helpfulness that made everything go well. Howard's skills were useful and he gladly lent a helping hand. The same is true of you, Ida, and we were grateful the way the Ayers family belonged and contributed. Sarah was a delight and I still recall her wide-eyed wonder when she was so young. You are in my thoughts.

I knew Howie from Delta Works Yard. Such a warm person, always a ready smile and kind words, he cared about everyone he met.
He will be missed! My condolences to family and friends.
