Irene ADAMS Obituary

In Loving Memory of
ADAMS, Irene Jessie (née French)

Irene was born on November 14, 1936, in Whitehorse Yukon, and passed away the day after her 87th birthday on November 15, 2023, in Ladner BC.

Irene was the cherished wife of Lloyd Adams and the devoted mother of Linda (Paul), Bill (Michelle), Mary (Wes), and Wayne (Meghan). Her legacy extends through the generations, as she was the proud grandmother of Nicholas (Natacha), Carey (Autumn), Ryan (Chrissie), Jocelyn (Ryan), Ben (Katie), Katie, Jenna, Hannah, Jacob (Paige), and great-grandmother of Serge, Damon, Gala, Issac, Wade, Blair, Brady, and Keller.

Irene's early years were spent on Vancouver Island, where she met the love of her life, a charming sailor from the prairies. Married in 1958, they settled in Vancouver and then Burnaby, welcoming four children within six years. After a busy three years in Markham, Ontario, Irene and Lloyd found their permanent home in Tsawwassen, where their children graduated high school and moved away eventually settling close to the family home.

Irene was dedicated to her family and community, volunteering in many ways, from Sunday School teacher and Brownie leader during her children's younger years, to active involvement in their sports and school activities as they grew older. Her compassion extended beyond her family, as she spent countless years providing comfort and delivering Meals-on-Wheels. Irene found joy in bowling at Tsawwassen Lanes and, in later years, became an active member of Tsawwassen Legion Branch 289 alongside Lloyd.

In 2018, Irene faced the profound loss of her beloved husband, Lloyd. She spent her final years at Delta View Care Centre, where she received wonderful care and made many friends.

Irene and Lloyd will be reunited when they are laid to rest beside each other in Boundary Bay Cemetery at a later date. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 (2:00-5:00pm) at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 289, #22 - 1835 56th Street, Tsawwassen. We feel Family Day weekend is a fitting occasion to honour the importance she placed on family.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests considering a donation to Kin Village in Tsawwassen or the Legion Branch 289, or a Charity of Your Choice. Irene devoted years to volunteering with Kin Village through Meals-on-Wheels, and the organization provided invaluable support to Lloyd in his final years.

Her memory will be forever cherished
by those who had the privilege of
sharing in her love and kindness.

Such a lovely tribute to your mother. Arch knew Irene from the time she was a teenager when he was home on leave from the Navy and found a spare bed at her mother´s home. Lloyd was a Rapid City boy as were Arch & I so we had that in common . We have kept up a close friendship over the years and phoned Irene quite often to have a chat. I always admired the fact that she was always so cheery. Never complained much. We will miss touching base with her. You all had a wonderful Mom & Dad.

We are feeling so sad at the death of our dear sister in law, Irene. She was such a wonderful partner to our brother/brother in law, Lloyd. We will miss her wonderful and unfailing sense of humor, and her graciousness in the face of of difficulty. Much love to all. Auntie Norma and Uncle Bob

Sending sincere condolences to the Adams family on the loss of their Mom. There were many occasions over the years when our paths connected - as the Adams and Barretts had a lot to celebrate! I can't ever remember seeing your Mom without this big smile (and the same goes for your Dad). Her loss will be keenly felt by her children, grandchildren and into the next generation. Cherish your memories. You will find she is never far from your heart. God Bless you all. Linda & Jerry Lane.
