Jack GUICHON Obituary

GUICHON, Jack (John) Felix Jack was born on February 21, 1925 in Vancouver, B.C. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He lived, loved and cherished life to the fullest. Jack will be deeply missed by his children Peter (Kelly), Donna Gerrard (Keith), Paul (Sam), Tim (Rhonda), John (Wendy). Grand-children: Danielle, Alicia, Ryan (Nicole), Todd, Cory (Holley), Christie, Matthew, Jessica, Janelle, Jamie, Shaylene (Jeff) Natasha (Joe) and Tayler. Great Grand-children: Isabelle, Emmett, Jack, Brielle, Livia, Rowan and Halle. Predeceased by his wife Lorraine, his parents Felix and Ruth Guichon; survived by his sister Lorraine McKinnon, Betty Coholan and husband Frank from Ontario and sister Marilyn Hall, and many friends and relatives. A special thank you to Jack's caring and devoted caregivers Eileen, Maria, Lucy, Mary, Flavia, and Brenda. Jack attended Canoe Pass School and later Delta Junior and Senior High School. After the passing of his father he and his mother continued the family farm which then became Felix Farms. In 1953 he married the love of his life, Lorraine, and lived on the family farm in Ladner where they began cultivating a family of five. Jack loved his time with family and took great pride in his vegetable and flower gardens. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapshooting, playing cards, and watching a variety of sports, especially his favourite baseball team the, "New York Yankees". Later in life he played golf and was often seen at Ricky's in the morning enjoying a good conversation with his coffee buddies. Many winter months were spent in Yuma, Arizona where he enjoyed visits from family and friends. Jack was a past director of the B.C. Coast Vegetable Co-op, a founding member of the Lower Mainland Vegetable Distributors (B.C. Fresh Vegetables Inc.), a past member of the Farmers Institute, Kinsmen and K40 Clubs of Ladner. Prayers will be held on Sunday, October 28th at 7:00 pm at Sacred Heart Church, 3900 Arthur Drive, in Ladner. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 29th at 11:00 am, Sacred Heart Church in Ladner. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Jack Guichon to the Delta Hospital or charity of your choice.
