James GRANT Obituary

GRANT, James Arthur (Jim) On Saturday, August 28th 2021, Jim Grant, our loving dad, husband, step dad, brother, uncle and grandfather passed away suddenly doing what he loved. James Arthur Douglas Grant was born the 4th of 5 siblings, in Vancouver, BC. He was known for his love of family, and quick and easy ability to make friends. Everyone has a Jim Grant story. His curious nature led to his love for gardening, canning, fishing, coin and stamp collecting, horse racing, and many other activities including playing the slots at the casino. His life was full right till the end. He loved Maui, and he and Diana had planned to go back for their 40th trip. His early career with Western Canada Steel paved the way to a lifelong passion in metal recycling. Jim ran his beloved company JG Recycling Ltd. for almost 35 years, working alongside his wife, son and extended family. Work for Jim was not just business, but yet another way to make friends. Jim was loved by all generations, known for his hearty "ha!", the twinkle in his eye and his enormous capacity to love. While Jim and Diana had recently moved back to Ladner, Jim's ashes will be scattered off the coast of Vancouver Island, near one of his favorite fishing spots in Bowser, B.C. Jim is survived by his loving wife Diana, children Tod (Katia), Caroline (Aaron), their mother Ginny, step kids Shawn (Katja), Morgan (Romeo), Brandon and Jared. Jim leaves behind his sisters Yvonne and Kathleen, brothers John and Tom, 9 grandchildren, a large extended family and countless friends, all of whom will miss him terribly. Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
