McMANUS, James K. October 1934- August 2016 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, James (Jim) Kenneth McManus, in Kelowna. He was 81. He leaves behind his three children Tamra (Shaun), Robert (Kezia), and Tracy (Steven), as well as seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by our mom, Shirley, in 2011. Jim grew up on a farm outside of Kindersley, Saskachewan. After high school he studied aeronautical engineering at SAIT in Calgary. His career took him to Montreal to work for Canadair, then to Vancouver and Canadian Airlines. While at Canadair, he and a colleague designed the tail stabilizer on the Snowbirds Demonstration Squadron Tutor. In 1993, Jim retired after 30 years with Canadian. He and mom then moved to Vernon. Our dad was a gentleman and a family man. He was very proud of his Scottish heritage and prairie roots. We will miss his smile, his soft voice, and his gentle heart. A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, August 27th from 2 - 4 p.m. at daughter Tamra's home in North Vancouver. Please call or text 604-803-2619 for directions or details.
