Joan HAHN Obituary
HAHN, Joan Arlene (nee Fox)
Joan Arlene Hahn went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Valleyview Care Center in Brandon MB. It was just a few days short of her 84th birthday.
Joan was born on December 6, 1939, in Ottawa ON, to John (aka Jack) and Alma Fox. She was the youngest of 3 girls. Mom grew up in Ottawa and graduated from Nepean High School with a diploma in Business Studies. She spent her entire working career as a bookkeeper for various businesses in Ottawa and finally in BC at Kekinow Native Housing before retiring.
She moved to the greater Vancouver area in her early 50's because "you don't have to shovel snow". She lived in Maple Ridge, Richmond, Vancouver and finally Tsawwassen before moving to Manitoba to be with her daughter as her health declined.
She enjoyed doing crafts, ceramics, crocheting, sewing, quilting, and loved hosting friends and family for meals and celebrations. She adored being a grandma to her 3 grandsons. She was a great pet lover, having many dogs and cats over her lifetime.
She always had a heart for the lonely and became a fast and steady companion of many "who just needed a friend". She was active in many churches during her lifetime and was a strong Christian, seeking to follow her Saviour. She was an active member of Ladner Baptist Church until moving to Manitoba.
Joan is predeceased by her husband Harry Hahn and her parents and 2 sisters. She is survived by her daughter Mary Ann Black (Steven), son Vernon Godmere (Claire) and grandsons Robert Black, Jack Godmere and Hunter Godmere.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Valleyview Care Center in Brandon, MB, for their excellent care and support during her time in care.
A cremation has taken place. A graveside service for family will be held later in March with Rev. Mike Mawhorter officiating. Memorial donations can be made to Ladner Baptist Church.
