Joan Elizabeth Tamboline
October 7, 1934 - June 18, 2025With deep love and remembrance, we announce the passing of our mom, Joan Elizabeth Tamboline, at the age of 90. Joan was born in Ladner, growing up on River Road by the Westham Island Bridge. She lived in Victoria, Burnaby, Westbank, and Nanaimo, before returning to Ladner to spend her retirement.
A true bon vivant and rebel, Joan enjoyed the company of those who made her laugh, a good scotch and a nice cigar. She was adventurous - learning to ride a bike and competing in the BC Senior Games twice in her 60s and 70s. She travelled extensively around the world: France, India, Antarctica, Portugal and more. She loved deeply, had a career in health care, was a Foster Parent to many babies and teens for over 10 years, and embraced new experiences. Joan volunteered generously, especially with McKee House and numerous Ladner special events.
Joan is survived by her children Kelly, Dan, Jason and Stephen. One of six siblings from a pioneer family of Ladner, she leaves behind her youngest brother Norman and brother-in-law Jack. Her extended family includes five grandchildren, one great-grandson and multiple nieces and nephews. Her life would never have been so full without her wide circle of devoted friends and family around the world.
Memorial services will be on Sunday, July 27, at 12pm (noon), beginning with a graveside interment at Boundary Bay Cemetery, 856 - 56th Street in Tsawwassen. Please join the family at the Tamboline homestead, 3544 River Road West, Ladner, for light refreshments from 1:30 - 3:30pm.
She came; she lived; she left.
