HUTTON, John Meredith 1929 - 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Meredith Hutton, 86, on May 31, 2015. John was born on March 11, 1929 to Harold and Caroline Hutton. He was a true gentleman and a kind and loving husband and father. He was always ready to lend a hand to any one that needed help. John is survived by his wife Anne of 61 years, son Harold and daughter Eleanor, and grandchildren Vanessa, Robert and Lauren. John graduated from UBC's Faculty of Commerce with a gold medal for receiving the highest grade in his graduating class. Following graduation from UBC he went on to pursue a career as a Chartered Accountant with Clarkson Gordon & Company (now Ernst & Young) where he remained until his retirement as a senior partner of the firm. In retirement, John continued to work with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of B.C. and was actively engaged in conducting practice reviews as well as developing and delivering professional development courses for the Institute. John was highly regarded, respected and loved by his friends and colleagues. His involvement in the community was tireless. John belonged to the Kiwanis Club of Vancouver where he served as President. He went on to serve at the District level as Lt. Governor and then as Secretary and President of the Kiwanis Foundation of Canada. In honour of his wishes no service is to be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kiwanis Foundation of Canada or the Palliative Ward of Lions Gate Hospital/North Shore Hospice. "To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die."
