Kenneth NAIRN Obituary
NAIRN, Kenneth Lyall
March 11, 1948 - December 23, 2024
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kenneth Lyall Nairn, who left us peacefully at Delta Hospital on December 23, 2024.
Predeceased by his father Lyall, mother Eileen, and sisters Laura and Penny. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Joanne; children Roger Nairn (Allison) and Jen Hastie (Michelle); brother David Nairn (Valerie); cherished grandson Cooper; and extended family on both the Nairn and Evans sides. He also leaves behind beloved grand-puppies, Zooey and Quinn.
Ken treasured friendships, from his childhood in Vancouver's East Side, through his work as co-owner of Georgia Mechanical Systems, teammates at the Tunnel Town Curling Club, to lifelong friends he and Joanne met in their life together. A proud Tsawwassen resident since 1976, Ken loved hosting BBQs, pumpkin carving, summer parties, and family gatherings, fostering connections with neighbours and friends. He found joy at Beach Grove Golf Club, sharing laughs and memorable games with many golfing friends. Ken was a passionate sports fan, cheering for the Canucks, Whitecaps, Blue Jays, and F1. He taught his son baseball and golf, cheered on his daughter in field hockey and soccer, and loved taking his grandson to golf camp. An adventurer at heart, Ken climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, attended the Masters, and travelled to 49 countries with Joanne, treasuring memories and friendships from every journey.
The Nairn family thanks BC Cancer, Delta Hospital, and his exceptional care teams. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Foundation or Delta Hospital in Ken's name are appreciated. Ken will be remembered for his humour, warmth, and legacy of love.
A celebration of his life will be held
this spring. Details to follow.
