Leonard GOOSSEN Obituary

In Loving Memory of
Leonard Ralph Goossen
August 10, 1957 – November 18, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leonard Ralph Goossen, who passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, at the age of 67. He was born in Vancouver, BC, on August 10, 1957. Len grew up in Vancouver and graduated from John Oliver Secondary, attended Columbia Bible Institute and graduated with a Commerce degree from UBC. Upon his confession of faith, Len was baptized at First United Mennonite Church, Vancouver, on June 2, 1974. Len lived a life full of faith, family, and friendship.

Len is survived by his wife of 34 years, Monica; his four children, Lauren, Jake, Lucas, and Clare; and his three grandchildren, Fionn, Ronan, and Renley. He also leaves behind his brothers John (Joan) and Rick (Brenda) and many nieces and nephews who cherished him. Len was predeceased by his parents, Katy and Jake, whose values and guidance shaped the man he became.

A highly skilled and dedicated accountant, Len founded Goossen & Associates CPA, which he operated for more than 30 years. His work went beyond balancing books-he provided mentorship, guidance, and unwavering support to his clients. Len also used his expertise to give back, volunteering his accounting skills to Freshwave Ministries and at Cedar Park Church. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and providing strength through all circumstances.

Len's love for sports was matched only by his passion for the game of golf. A skilled golfer, he made lifelong memories on courses around the world, including a memorable trip to Europe, where he and his friends played on dream courses. A devoted fan, Len could always be found cheering for his favourite teams, particularly the Pittsburgh Steelers. Even as he faced health challenges, the camaraderie and joy of sports continued to uplift him.

Known for his quick wit, generous spirit, and steady presence, Len was a rock for his family and friends. He could lighten any room with his humour and brought a calm, positive energy to every challenge he faced. His friends describe him as a constant, reliable presence-someone they could always count on.

Len's enduring strength, both physical and spiritual, was rooted in his deep faith, which remained unshaken throughout his life. He passed on values of hard work, resilience, and kindness to his children and grandchildren, leaving a legacy of love and wisdom.

A memorial to celebrate Len's life will be held at Peace Church on 52nd on December 7, 2024, starting at 2:30 PM. Address: 659 East 52nd Ave, Vancouver, BC, V5X 1G8.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honour Len's memory by cherishing your loved ones and carrying forward his spirit of generosity and faith.

Len was not just my acct but also a friend we met in 1999 when he was part of barter exchange. I also got him to take up golf more. If you were ever is in office you could see three golfing photos. I bought those for him long time ago. We would golf at the falls in Chilliwack. I will miss his smile, jokes and most of all friendship. Till we meet again.

I met Len as I was searching for an accounting service to look after taxation matters. I was so pleased to find a great guy behind that desk who was easy to relate to and who additionally was an indispensable source of advice. My condolences to his family. He left too soon.

Upon learning now that Len has passed it is a real shock as I have known him for 30 plus years as my accountant. He certainly had a very nice calm demeanor and was very helpful all the years to me and my ex wife. I really am lost for words with this news and hope that his family hold each other tight as family is what makes this world work.
Take care.

I was shocked to hear of the passing of Len Goossen. Len had been doing my taxes for the last 25 to 30 years. Not only did he do my taxes, but he advised me on financial matters, he had a great business mind and I could always phone him and ask his advice. We had become friends and used to golf together on occasion. He has gone away too early and will be missed by everyone. My condolences to his family at this very difficult time.

His Heart was bigger than the body that contained it. His strength of character, faith, commitment, and wisdom, to name a few of his attributes, were always at the forefront of who he was. We had some fun times as members of the Saturday/ low tea guys meet up. Len was a good guy. I will miss him, as will his family and friends. God bless Len. Steve.

Our condolences to Monica and the family.
Len lived life to the fullest. I got to experience his zest for life and unlimited energy, when he invited me on one of his golfing trips in California, where we golfed every day for a week.
As work and a growing family became his main focus, we still stayed in touch and we even convinced us non campers to join his family in Oliver for a day, even though we provided more work for them. We never forgot their hospitality and generosity

I remember being on the floating dock at Tuc-el-nuit Lake with Len. All of us kids were smaller then him, so it took about 10 of us to push him into the water. He always laughed and pulled himself back up so we could try again. My condolences to his little grandchildren, to his children, and especially to Monica. I am also sad for his brothers John and Rick. May Len's laughter and resilience stay rooted in your memories.
