Lucia Jozefina Maria SCHMAND

SCHMAND, Lucia Jozefina Maria Best known as "Lucy" with family, friends and in the Delta community. Lucy passed away with family at her side on the morning of December 10th at the Irene Thomas Hospice, she was 94. Her last couple of years were difficult with her failing health and Covid restrictions; which left her unable to connect with friends, along with going out and in to town, doing a little shopping, chatting along the way in the comfort that Ladner gave her. It's been her home since 1958; when she, husband Tony and her three little boys arrived here from the Netherlands. She devoted a lot of time helping raise money for charitable organizations such as the Variety Farm Training Center, now Delta Community Living Society, the Delta Hospital Foundation, and her Church, Sacred Heart. She was the youngest in her family and the last survivor of that early 20th century generation. Very much loved by her nieces and nephew, like a big sister to them. Lucy leaves behind three sons, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. We will all miss her dearly. Rest In Peace Mother Funeral Service will be at Sacred Heart Church, 3900 Arthur Drive, this Friday, December 17th at 10:00 AM.
