Mackenzie Galbraith Obituary

Mackenzie Lee Galbraith September 5, 1999- December 2, 2025
It's with great sadness that we announce the passing of our daughter (Mackenzie) on December 2, 2025, surrounded by her family. Mackenzie (Kenzie, Mac) had a great flair for life. She packed a lot of experiences into her short time. She was very passionate about archaeology and Museum Studies; she had traveled to Belize and worked on several digs.  Her last dig was with the Squamish Nation. She also worked this past summer with the VPD Police Museum. Mackenzie also had a love for Snowboarding and Cosplay, which she made all her own costumes.  Everyone who met Mackenzie always commented on how friendly and positive she was. She always had a big, beautiful smile. Rest now, our Angel.
Love, Dad, Mom, and the boys.
A celebration of life will be held in the Spring of 2026

I only recently had the joy of meeting Mac at fan expo just last year but she was such a delightful and kind person. We had a lot of fun just chatting about our shared interests like Star Wars and even bonded through talking about different techniques of making costumes (or the struggle of wearing awkward headpieces!). I wish we had the chance to have met sooner. She was always such a positive loving person to everyone in the community and will never be forgotten.

Well wishes to all her loved ones family and friends

This was one of my favourite photos I ever took of Mackenzie. Her laugh was always infectious and whenever we would be at cons, she´d always be the one to run up to give me a hug, no matter how chaotic our surroundings were. I really wish I was able to see her one last time.

You´ll be missed

I knew Mac through cosplay and only knew her from back in 2024 but I got so much joy from meeting up at conventions with her! She was always a lot of fun and I especially loved cosplaying from Trigun with her! It was always rare to find Meryl cosplayers so I was geeked to find out that Mac cosplayed her too. Fly high friend!! I would have loved to cosplay with you again:)

I´m one of Mac´s friends from DSS and I´m grateful that I was able to keep in touch with her, here and there even after we graduated.

My fondest memories have been listening to her talk and debate about history during Powell´s Socials 12 class... having lunch with her, Sarah and all other friends. A specific Halloween where she dressed up as Captain America opposite to Sarah´s Winter Soldier was the only time I ever celebrated Halloween fondly. Although I wasn´t big on cosplaying.. Mac and I´s bond is beyond that. I spent my first anime convention with her in 2022. She has always been so warm and kind to me in all the years I´ve known her.

Love you lots Mac I´ll miss you dearly.

I met her through cosplay at Fan Expo Vancouver many years ago and loved seeing how much she had improved her techniques and always had tips for us. Id always find a way to go back and chat with her and I loved hearing about her trip to Belize and her studies. She has been such a huge part of the cosplay community for many of us, myself included, and will always be remembered by us. It hurts to know she will not be there in person during cons but her spirit will always live on by us and know she is smiling down upon us. To the family, please know you raised such an amazing daughter who was always full of smiles and laughs, was very welcoming of everyone and you guys should be proud for her hard work in everything she did.

Mac was an amazing person, she lit up everyone´s life just by being in it. She was always there to talk and always helped pic you up. She was so strong and she will be missed by many.
I remember meeting her at a con a few years back and organizing a road trip to another con some months later, making so many memories over the years.
She is a gorgeous individual with a smile no one will ever forget.

I met Mac back in 2023 at Calgary expo. She was such a bright light. I was so grateful to have met her along with another person from Vancouver. Mac was so talented at everything she did. I´m from Alberta and on a whim I went to Ani Revo this Year. I couldn´t have been more grateful I did because it gave me the chance to see her one last time. I wish I had more opportunities to spend time with her and I´m gutted to hear about her passing. I´m sending you all my love.

I met Mackenzie at Simon Fraser University in 2024, where we shared some of the same classes as archaeology majors. She was extremely bright, and I could always count on her to bring great conversation. I remember the first time she brought up the convention FANEXPO, and I was so excited because I was going to the same convention. From there, we talked not only about schoolwork but also about the cosplays we were planning to wear in the future. She was the first cosplayer I had ever met at SFU, and she always made me feel comfortable in class.

Unfortunately, I didn´t have any more classes with her, and eventually we fell out of contact. Although I hadn´t talked with her in recent years, I´m very sorry to have lost a friend. I send my condolences to her family and want to say what a truly lovely person she was.
