Maria BRZOZA

1927 - 2021

BRZOZA, Maria (Babula) September 08, 1927 - April 11, 2021 It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and babcia, Maria Brzoza, affectionately known as "Babi" on Sunday, April 11, 2021. Predeceased by her husband Ted (1997) and eldest son Stan (2008), Maria is survived by her daughter-in-law Donna, daughters; Donna Boychuk (Doug), Sophie Angelopulos (George), and Aileen Anthony, sons; Fred, John (Kim), and Mick (Cathy). Along with twenty grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Maria also had numerous nieces and nephews in Poland and the United States, all of whom she adored and kept in touch with regularly. Maria and Ted immigrated to Canada from Poland in 1959 with four children, settled in Regina, SK and raised their family of seven. In addition to raising a large family, Maria managed an immaculate household and tended a bountiful garden. In the evenings, she worked at the University of Regina until her retirement. Maria enjoyed travelling, having made numerous trips back to Poland, other parts of Europe and the US, to visit family and friends - she particularly enjoyed her holidays in Maui. To fulfill her son Stan's wishes and be closer to family, Maria and daughter-in-law Donna moved to Tsawwassen, BC, in 2011. Maria will always be remembered for her love of family, kind heart, infectious smile, and of course, her delicious Polish cooking! Her age did not reflect her stamina or zeal for life. We all relied upon her amazing memory of past dates and events. She continued her daily walks and enjoyed meeting up with neighbours until her last day. Our family will be forever grateful to our incredible and selfless sister-in-law Donna, for the loving care and attention she gave our mother for the many years they lived together. Due to COVID-19, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (https://www.heartandstroke.ca/).
