MCGREGOR, June Lillian
June 26, 1933 - September 4, 2024
June passed peacefully at Richmond General Hospital with her family by her side, joining Martin in the embrace of God. She was born in Winnipeg to Harry Rodgers (b. Derby, England) and Rose (nee Dick; b. Barnett, England), a loving sister for Albert. Raised in the prairies during the Depression, she adopted the character of her generation: resilience, humility and generosity. She married Martin (1922-1999), a WWII Navy veteran, in 1956. They are survived by their loving children, Gary and Sandy (Jamie).
They moved to Vancouver in 1970, the year her Canucks first hit the ice. June was among the first three women in western Canada to work at a McDonald's.
She worked for over 30 years as a secretary at a Dearborn Chemical office, becoming an integral member of the team. In retirement, June enjoyed volunteer work at the Hospital Auxiliary and was the longest-serving member of the Richmond Food Bank. Until the last few months of her cancer, she thrived in robust health. She golfed, bowled and took daily power walks. She enjoyed testing her luck at the casino.
Thanks to all those on the Sixth floor at RGH who afforded her exemplary care. Special thanks to the caregivers at Angels There For You and Vancouver Coastal Health. Thanks also to the staff and her many friends at The Maples residence. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the
Canadian Cancer Society.
June's memorial will be at the Richmond Funeral Home at 1 pm on Sat. Nov. 16. All the many friends she acquired in a rich, long lifetime are welcome.
