STARKO, Michael Harold June 16, 1964 - April 14, 2022 Michael Harold Starko was a loving father, husband, mentor, and friend. He passed away in a tragic cycling accident on Thursday, April 14th at the age of 57. He is survived by his wife Kathy, and his three children, Emma, Zachary, and Maria. Michael was infamous for his goofiness, antics, rock-solid presence, and generosity of heart. He was a second father to many, and was a mentor and influence in the world of sport. A celebration of life is scheduled for 4:00 pm on Friday, April 29th at Beach Grove Golf Course. Anyone who wishes to attend the service is welcome. I met Mike for the first time 10
Years ago as I got into the health and travel insurance business. He is just the most genuine down to earth Individual and brought the best out in everyone. We shared many funny times together, during Covid we exchanged many messages of banter and joy. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, my deepest sympathies to his family and friends, Rest in peace buddy.

I shared a lane with Mike at Otters workouts. We set three BC masters records with relay teams Mike was on. He was such a nice guy and such a strong swimmer. I always looked forward to seeing him on the deck. It is hard to believe that someone so strong can be gone just like that. I am so lucky to have known him.
