Michael Taylor Obituary
Michael Francis Taylor, 81, of Delta, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025. Michael was born on March 21, 1944, in St Hyacinthe, Quebec. He graduated from UVic and spent many years building a successful career at Weldwood of Canada. His legacy will be cherished by the countless lives he touched throughout his career, personal life, and Saturna Island, his 'happy place'.
Michael was born deaf, but did not let this define his impact on everything he endeavored to accomplish in his life. Later in life, he was burdened with the diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease. Michael's character and drive allowed him to achieve far beyond most despite the hurdles he encountered. For anyone who met Michael knows the profound accomplishments he achieved, regardless of what others would view as a challenging life. He was known for his ability to learn anything, his love of creating a beautiful home on Saturna Island, and his passion for world travel, including boating in the Pacific Northwest.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Etsuko, of whom he absolutely adored; his children, Mariko (James) and Fabian (Katie); five cherished grandchildren; and beloved sister, Karen. Michael was predeceased by his mother, Olive, and father, Francis.
Michael's character and quiet humour will live on in all who knew him, leaving a lasting legacy of his 'pride and joy' on Saturna Island. Michael will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. A private celebration of life for Michael will be held this spring.
