Oswald Kienapfel Obituary
Oswald "Os" Kienapfel passed away suddenly on January 6, 2026.
From an early age, Os was drawn to adventure and innovation - flying planes, racing and building bush buggies, working on electronics, and working as a mechanic in his father's garage, where his lifelong love of Volkswagen began.
A proud UBC alumnus, Os built a long and meaningful career in systems analysis and software design. He gave generously of his time as an active member of volunteer emergency services and was a well-known amateur radio operator. He enjoyed playing recreational hockey, flying drones at the local park, mountain biking, and was a dedicated Past Master Mason.
Above all, Os was a caring father, a loyal and dependable friend, and a man known for his humour, intelligence, curiosity, and kindness. He had a lifelong passion for learning and exploring new ideas.
He leaves behind his children, Krista and Kyle, along with many friends who mourn him.
We miss you and are grateful for the time we had together.
