Paramjit Hothi Obituary

In Loving Memory of Paramjit Singh Hothi
1934 ~ 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Paramjit Singh Hothi in the quiet hours of the morning on June 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in India to Amar Singh and Charn Kaur, Paramjit's life was defined by perseverance, humility, and deep devotion to his family and faith. In 1969, he courageously left behind his parents and sisters-Daljit Kaur, Manjit Kaur, and Swarnjit Kaur-as well as the comfort of his homeland, to embark on a new path.

In pursuit of a better life and greater opportunity, Paramjit emigrated to Canada with his beloved wife, Malkiat Kaur, and their young family. The journey was not easy-marked by sacrifice, courage, and hard work-but it was one he undertook with unwavering determination. He embraced his new home and proudly became a Canadian citizen in 1976.

Paramjit embodied the core values of his Sikh faith-honest living, humility, service to others, and deep spiritual devotion. He lived each day guided by the principles of Seva (selfless service), Simran (remembrance of God), and community, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

A devoted father of five daughters, Paramjit was the steady hand and strong heart of his family. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, whose legacy continues through the lives and values of the generations that follow.

We may never know how many generations before him worked the land in his homeland, but Paramjit carried that connection to the earth with him across continents. He was an avid gardener, nurturing everything he grew with the same patience and care he gave to his family. His green thumb became legendary in the community-earning him a proud moment in the spotlight when he was featured in a prominent seed company's catalogue for his awe-inspiring, dinosaur-sized squash.

His presence was quiet but powerful, his words few but meaningful. He will be remembered for his gentle smile, thoughtful advice, and the unshakable strength of his spirit. A lifelong seeker of knowledge, Paramjit spent countless hours exploring subjects that sparked his curiosity-often diving deep into traditional remedies and skillfully crafting his own. He was a self-taught jack-of-all-trades with a special gift for woodworking. His showstopping pieces-lovingly designed and meticulously crafted-grace the family home and can be found in homes around the world. A collector of cookbooks and a lover of learning in all its forms, he approached every new interest with quiet intensity and joyful determination.

He leaves behind a life that was deeply rooted in love, guided by honour, and filled with quiet purpose. His legacy lives not just in the stories we tell, but in the values he instilled, the lives he shaped, and the love he gave so freely. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will echo through our hearts and homes for generations to come.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that tribute donations be made in Paramjit's memory to the Delta Hospital Foundation. He is proudly honoured on their Lifetime Giving Wall-a lasting testament to his generosity and quiet contributions to the community, and a point of pride for our family.
