Peter THOSS Obituary

In Loving Memory of Peter Klaus Thoss
January 3, 1935 - January 20, 2025

We are grieving the passing of one of the kindest human beings, a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and generous friend. Born to Helmut Fritz Thoss and Else Klara Thoss (nee Hoyer) on January 3rd, 1935, in Plauen Germany. Peter passed away just after his 90th birthday on January 20, 2025.

Peter will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 30 years, Eleanor Dorothy Thoss (nee Heppner), children Deborah Anne Thoss, Steven Allen Thoss (Tracey), Jennifer Anne Thoss (Grandson Miguel Thoss-Franco), grandchildren Nicole Goeres (great-grandchildren Christopher Goeres, Zander Sutherland), Danica Lee Thoss, Matthew Thoss (great-grandchild Hally, partner Keri), Amanda Thoss, Shelby Thoss (partner Aaron), and stepchildren Lindsay Hooge and Sonoama Buchanan (Randy). He also leaves behind sister Eva Rast (Thoss) and brother Sig (Candy) Thoss, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

One of Peter's great sorrows was being predeceased by his sons Richard Ralph Paul Thoss and Jerry Frederick Thoss. The family finds solace in knowing they are together again.

Peter was a respected and well-known realtor in Ladner and Tsawwassen for almost 60 years and has had many awards for his sales accomplishments. Many will remember his crafty and creative sales and financing strategies, which helped many a family secure their first home, something in which he found pride. Working on real estate deals well into his 80s, he had an immense store of experience and was always full of entertaining stories. Peter enjoyed writing, and as a man of Christian faith, he taught Sunday school and wrote two books, "How Awesome this Place" and "Revelations." Peter was also in the process of writing his life story, which will surely make riveting reading - as he liked to point out, his life spanned from horse and buggy to the space age. Peter had stories of growing up during WW2 in East Germany, escaping, and then sponsoring his parents and siblings in coming to Canada.

Peter loved to travel and visited dozens of countries over the years. With the other owners at Delta Realty, Peter and then wife, Vicki, survived the deadly MGM Grand fire in Las Vegas in 1980, another captivating story he enjoyed sharing. In his free time, Peter could be found on his fishing boat, on the ocean, where he loved to bring friends and family. Using a whistle and fish guts, he trained an eagle to come to his boat just outside of Active Pass, much to the amazement of his many guests. He was an avid photographer and would always have a camera or movie camera with him.

His final days at the Irene Thomas Hospice were peaceful, and the family is forever indebted to the kindness and excellent care he received.

Friends and family are invited to join in the
Celebration of Life for Peter at 1:30, Wednesday, February 5,

Dear Eleanor oh my goodness I just opened a box that's being packed for so many years. And here was a picture of Peter, you, me and Ernie at my house on Oakaview in Kelowna, we had such a nice time together. I've thought about both of You over the years so many times great with fondness. We lost contact, I am so sorry to hear about
the passing of Peter he was a very kind man. He came with only a moments notice to help me sell my townhouse in Abbotsford. I pray Eleanor God's blessing over you in your time of great sadness. With all my love from Abby and Ernie xoxo
