Phil COTE Obituary

COTE, Phil

Phil Cote passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife, Gail of 59 years, and son Chris with daughter-in- law Cindy, grandchildren Jack and Ben of San Diego, California, and son Bruce with daughter-in- law Ray-Win, grandchildren Kianna, Kaiden, and Cruz of Tsawwassen. Phil's life began to parents Lt. Col. Emile and Eva in Montreal, where he had a wonderful life and developed his love of sports. He began his working career with the Toronto Dominion Bank in 1961, and after fifteen years, and his dislike for wintery weather, he moved his family following the Summer Olympics in August 1976 to the West Coast, where Phil had been recruited by the Bank of BC. They located in Tsawwassen, which remained their home. Following ten years with the Bank of BC, and a total of 25 years in banking, Phil made a career change to residential real estate sales and management in 1986, during which he worked with Block Brothers, Regency Realty, and Re/Max. He continued his real estate career until his retirement in 2021; culminating a 60 year working career. Phil and Gail enjoyed travelling and cruising around the world, visiting 37 countries. Phil coached his boys in baseball, hockey, football, and golf. He continued his own sporting pursuits by playing old-timers slo-pitch until he was 60 years old, old-timers hockey until age 68, and golf until 79. Phil was the past-president of Beach Grove Golf Club, past-president of the Royal Oaks Strata Council, and a long-time member of the TOOB organization. Sincere thanks to Dr. Horst Hollinger and the MAID team of Dr. Rudnick and Anthony Wong. Donations in Phil's memory would be appreciated to Delta Hospital Foundation and BC Guide Dogs. A celebration of Phil's life will be held at Beach Grove Golf Club at 5946 12th Avenue in Tsawwassen on Saturday, August 24th from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
