Ralph McCUAIG Obituary

McCUAIG, Ralph Scott

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ralph Scott McCuaig. Ralph was born on December 30th, 1944 in Ormstown, Quebec. He lived a long and happy life in which he travelled extensively, taught thousands of students, volunteered in his communities, and did so much more. He flew planes, navigated boats, and scuba dived. He was a kind, thoughtful, and funny man. Ralph was a passionate teacher who sought to make learning exciting and to inspire his students. He highly valued his connections with others and was social wherever he went. He loved spending time in nature and marvelling at the beauty of our world. Ralph spent 35 years teaching in Tsawwassen before moving up to Denman Island, where he happily enjoyed his retirement. He passed away peacefully on July 17th at Victoria General Hospital. He is survived by his partner Margie, son Jordan (Mika), and granddaughter Felix. Information about a memorial service will be shared soon. We loved him and will miss him dearly.

"He wasn't just a teacher.
He was a friend to everyone."

Hello,
Sad to hear about Ralph. Remember him so well and liked him personally too. I was his school administrator
For 11 years at SDSS. He was my choice for department head of Social Studies so promoted him, and kept him in the post until I was Transferred in1999.
He not only taught social studies, but also taught kids!!
He had a view of not just the school, but its community as well.
Best wishes to his family.

So sorry to hear about Ralph´s passing. Knew well as a teacher and warm, kind human. I was his administrator for 11 years (1988-99). I promoted him to Social Studies Departmrnt Head, and it proved to be an excellent choice when we amalgamated SDSs and TJS into a huge high school. He not only was a good social studies teacher, but was good with kids too.
He had feel for school and community too.
Best regards from me,
Christopher Plowright
