Rene Gagnon Obituary

Rene Patrick Gagnon, 74, of Ladner, British Columbia, put up a fight and then passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025. Born on October 29, 1951, in St. Paul, Alberta, Rene grew up on a farm where his strong work ethic began at an early age. As a young man, he moved to Vancouver and embraced city life in the 1970s before settling in Richmond. In 1978, Rene and his brother Paul founded Permanent Cement Finishing Ltd., a company that became a true reflection of Rene's talent and passion. Known affectionately as the "concrete guru," he took pride in his craft and continued working well into his later years.

In 1982, Rene married the love of his life, Kathy, and together they built a beautiful life, and they raised two daughters, Danielle and Jaclyn. Rene's devotion to his family was evident in everything he did, from coaching and cheering on his daughters' softball teams to celebrating his proudest role as promotion to "Grampa" to his granddaughter, Mia. His four girls were his pride and joy.

Away from work, his passion was on the golf course- An avid golfer and member of Kings Links from 2010 to 2025, Rene proudly achieved three holes-in-one. A regular at "The Ding," a long-time Raiders fan, and a member of Monday Night Football. Rene will always be remembered for his easygoing nature, humility, warmth, generosity, legendary spirit, and unwavering love for family and friends. A true legend to all who knew him.

Rene is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughters Danielle and Jaclyn; granddaughter Mia; siblings Roland, Paul, Denise, Raymond, and Yvonne; and many cherished relatives and friends. A celebration of his life will be held at the Ladner Community Centre on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 3 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the BC Cancer Foundation and the BC Stroke Foundation.

Rest in peace, Rene, forever in our hearts, our dear Silverado.

Our profound condolences to Kathy, Danielle, Jaclyn & Mia. Rene was a true friend and the greatest "Raiders" story teller. When he wore his black blazer, we would refer to him as the "Reverend". He will be truly missed.
Love Gary & Audrey
