Ruth HELLEVANG Obituary

January 10, 1928 - November 20, 2012

With sadness we announce the passing of Ruth Elinor Hellevang. She was a daughter to Ruby and George Campbell of Ladner, BC and she lived there for twenty-five years before moving to Pemberton in 1953 with her husband, Elmer Hellevang and their seven month old son, Chris. Two more children, Dave and Connie were born as Ruth and Elmer cleared the farm and became potato farmers. Ruth later taught grade seven for several years at Signal Hill, then retired from teaching to help run the farm. Her life was made even more special by the arrival of her grandchildren, Heather and Ryan. She loved birds and flowers and talking to people. Ruth will be remembered lovingly by her many friends and by her family. She is predeceased by her parents and sisters, Margaret and Jean and by her brother Robert. Many thanks to the caring staff at Inglewood Care Center in West Vancouver, where Ruth spent the last two years of her life. Thank you also to the incredible support from neighbours and friends that the family has received since her passing: Elmer, Chris, Dave and Sue and children Ryan, Gary and Connie Sobchak. Please consider making a donation to the Pemberton Museum in memory of Ruth Hellevang. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 1:00pm at St. David's United Church, Pemberton.
