Wilfred Heine

Wilfrid (Wilf) Heine, age 86, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, surrounded by love at KinVillage West Court in Tsawwassen, British Columbia. Wilf was born on December 5, 1938, in Edmonton, Alberta, to Leocadia (Lottie) and Wilhelm (Bill) Heine. He married Janice Merilees, his beloved wife of 59 years in Vancouver, and together they built a family with a shared love of camping, gardening, and time spent together.
Wilf spent his career at BC Tel as a Telecommunications Technician where he worked throughout the province.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Janice; his children Anne Marie Hogya (Brooks Hogya) and David Heine (Dawn Winterburn); and his grandchildren Austin Wallace, Reid Neilson, and Oliver Hogya. Wilf is also survived by his sister Margaret Wiebe and brother Walter Heine.
Wilf was known for his good-natured and joking wit. His warmth and humour left a lasting impression on those who cared for him at KinVillage, where he brought lightness and laughter to the halls each day.
Our family is deeply grateful to the dedicated staff at KinVillage for their care, compassion, and kindness.
At Wilf's request, no formal service will be held. His joking spirit and laughter live on in all who knew and loved him.
