Barbara ROACH Obituary

March 3, 1949 - March 5, 2021 It is with heartbreak and profound sadness that the family of Barbara Roach announces her sudden passing at her home in Oshawa, Ontario on March 5, 2021. Barbara will be forever remembered by her son Kevin (Andrea), daughter and best friend Kristen (Mark), her grandchildren Tayler, Landyn, Alyssa and Nathan, and by her brothers Gordon (Bobbi), Jeffrey (Mickie), Ronald (Jan) and (Glenda). Barb will also be remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Although born in Fort Frances, Ontario, it was Thunder Bay that became a home for Barbara and her family, where she fell in love with all its beauty. She was an active volunteer within the community, who loved her time as a Sea Cadet, graduated from Hammarskjold High School and earned herself the title of Officer in the Naval Reserve. A proud member of the Ontario Public Service, Barbara had a variety of analyst and project roles, and in retirement she was able to combine both her love of chit chat and shopping with Winners. Barb will be remembered as a beautiful, kind, generous and caring lady, whose infectious smile had an impact on everyone she met. An incredible mom, who raised her kids with unconditional love and unwavering support. Cherished by her grandkids for always being in their cheering section at sporting and school events, and the numerous adventures they shared. She loved to keep busy by cycling the trails to the beach, crafting, golfing, travelling, and spending time with friends and loved ones. Barb was predeceased by her father, John in 1977, her mother, Theresa (Gigliotti) in 1994 and recently by her loving brother Robert in 2021. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, we welcome any story or tale regarding our beloved Barbara.

I only learned of Barb's passing this week in an extraordinary way. We were childhood friends. I remember spending time with her at her family's home across from CD Howe School, a super friend. She was a bridesmaid at our wedding in '68. Always so positive and smiling even at a very young age. We meant at Corpus Christie School before St Bernard School was built. We attended that school until Gr 8. We went to different High Schools due to school zoning but remained close. We reconnected again a few years ago. There is a mass being offered for the repose of Barbs soul and for her brother Robert as well. We pray for the love and healing light of Christ to strengthen you through this time of loss. Put your trust in Him and know that He is always with you. Julie (nee Wilmot) and Dennis Smulski Ottawa Ontario

We were high school friends, she was a bridesmaid at Paul’s & my wedding. I remember her with fond, happy memories. We had just recently reconnected through Facebook. We are so saddened to hear the news of her loss. Will keep her family in thoughts and prayer. With our deepest sympathy to the family.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of Barb's family. Barb was in my wedding party years ago when she lived at our house in Thunder Bay. We still kept in touch and were planning to get together when Covid is over. I am still in shock to hear of her passing. You will be missed, my friend.

Rather than mourn the absence of the flame, let us celebrate how brightly it burned.
Now Barb., you hit that ball farther and straighter than ever before! You will be missed on the links.
