Darrell RAYNER Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our dear son, Darrell Glenn Rayner with his parents by his side on February 4, 2023, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in his 62nd year. Loved by parents Ivan and Gloria (Warren) Rayner, uncles, Danny and Keith Rayner Summerside P.E.I., several cousins and many dear friends. He was a true blue Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Oshawa Generals fan. Always expecting this will be the year they will win the cup. Darrell worked at General Motors and was a member of the CAW Union until suffering a severe illness in 1991. He spent the remaining years at Christian Horizons under their excellent care. Cremation has taken place. Service will be at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Rd., Whitby, ON on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with visiting one hour prior to service.

I first met Darrell when we played junior football on the Eastdale collegiate 75/76 team.He had a great personality and was a very funny and witty guy. We watched and went to many sporting events together including the Blue Jays first game played April 7 1977. We went to General games especially when his friend Barry McQuaid came to town playing for the Kingston Canadians. The last time I saw Darrell was the summer of 1984 and unfortunately we lost contact. My youth was that much better because he was my friend.
