Kathleen DRAPER Obituary

April 15, 1924 - May 7, 2022
Kathleen (Kay) was born in Drumheller, AB, the daughter of Harry Bernard Trout and Grace Kathleen (Brownell) Trout. She passed away at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa, ON. Her passing marks the end of a generation of a large, close-knit birth family, and of a family created of friends when Kay and Harold moved from Canada to Champaign, Illinois. Kay earned her BA (U of Alberta), BSW (U of Toronto), and Masters in Library Sciences (U of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), and worked as a school and university librarian before returning with Harold to Guelph, ON in 1975. She spent her last 11 years in Whitby, close to family.
Our family is grateful that an anticipated celebration of Kay's 98th birthday brought everyone together, instead, to surround her with love over her last weeks. Kathleen leaves a son, Geoff (Sharon), daughter Barbara Haynes, grandchildren Julia and Doug Haynes and Michael and AJ Draper and their partners, and great-grandson Llewyn. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Draper, and their young daughter Doreen.
Much appreciation goes to the staff and community at Taunton Mills in Whitby, both past and present, whose compassionate care supported our mother's health and fullness of life. We also appreciate the warm thoughts and memories of those who knew and loved her. Per Kathleen's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service.
