Passed peacefully in palliative care at the Bowmanville General Hospital on October 5th. Beloved husband to Roxy Ann Ritza. Proud stepfather to Erica and Issa Sawabini, Jessica and Aaron Maybee and Monica Roberge. Cherished Papa Mike to Sutton, Emry and Brock. Mike will rest with his mother, Doris Ritza (nee Wares) and her father, Thomas Ritza at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Scarborough. Mike lived a life full of adventure, laughter, and love, and had a vast, extended family of friends who will miss this kind man. Mike ("Eppy") had a varied career, ranging from owning a contracting business, to being the owner-operator of long-haul trucking, to ice road trucking and Convoy Supply LTD. He often shared his adventures on the ice roads, over a good meal with the people he loved. Mike grew up in the West Hill area of Scarborough and moved to Brooklin as an adult. It was there, at his home, where he hosted many live-music events ("Eppstock"). Finally, he moved to the Courtice area with his wife, Roxy. Mike was loved by many for his easy-going nature, his kindness, his humour and his willingness to help. After dinner, either at home or at a friend's place, you would often find him at the kitchen table, enjoying great conversation or a game of cards. A lover of all things Mopar, handsome and handy, and with a quick wit and a huge heart are just a few of the reasons, Mike was one of a kind. He was also a private man so, in lieu of a funeral or celebration of life, Mike's huge heart will live on in his request that you make a donation to the
Canadian Cancer Society of your local Humane Society in his name. Raise a glass to celebrate a life well lived but, sadly, too short.
Cheers Mike ("Eppy"). You are loved and missed by so many.
