1938 - 2022
Phyllis passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa at the age of 84, with her daughter at her side. Phyllis is pre-deceased by her parents Gladys and Gordon Raines and survived by her sister Enid. Beloved mother of Tony, Leonard, Jerry (Anabel) Hutchings and Sharon (Micheal) Tremblay. Loving Nanny of Sarah, Brandon and Jerry Jr. She will be dearly missed by Gerald Hutchings, extended family and friends.
Phyllis was born in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland and moved to Ontario in the 1950's. She was a courageous, loving woman who possessed an incredible sense of humour. She loved her family more than anything and expressed that love unconditionally. As a working Mom, she raised her children to be strong and independent. She loved to dance and laugh and did so, like no one was watching. She lived life on her own terms and did it "Her Way". She will be greatly missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at W.C. Town Funeral Chapel (110 Dundas Street East, Whitby) on Thursday, October 7, 2022, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. with words of remembrance at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Groveside Cemetery, Whitby. In lieu of flowers, in memory of Phyllis donations may be made to Parkinson Canada.
