Ronald Brownell transitioned peacefully on Wednesday, September 14th, surrounded by his loving family. Ron was born in Newington, Ontario on July 7, 1944, to parents Keith and Freda (nee Zummach) Brownell. A retired GM Auto Worker, Ron's career in manufacturing began with the former Houdaille Industries in Oshawa until the plant closure. He then joined General Motors where he worked in the Paint shop until his retirement in 2007. Ron was an avid sportsman who enjoyed the outdoors with his family. A woodworking enthusiast, he will be remembered as an exceptional craftsman. Ron took great pride in the restoration of antique furniture, cabinet making, and his favorite hobby, building and flying radio-controlled aircraft. Ron's many skills were an asset to Feed the Need, a local Food Bank serving the Durham Region, where Ron and Linda both volunteered. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 56 years, Linda (née Swerdfeger) of Osnabruck Centre. He was a devoted father to daughters, Kelly Zovak (John), and Karen Knight (Brad). He was a loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Nicole, Zachary, Michael, Mackenzie, and Andrew. Ron is survived by his sisters Joan and Gail, and his brother Don. In his final days, Ron received excellent care from the staff on Lavender Lane at Hillsdale Estates.
