William CZIRANKA Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bill in his 93rd year. Ever loving and doting father of Dorothy, loving father-in-law of Dale and love like no other of grandson Mitchell. Survived by his sister Margaret (late Bob). Predeceased by his brothers, Rudy (late Eleanor), Alec (Marion), Steve (Lucette) and Bobby. Bill will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews and the many friends he had throughout his life. Bill was born in Oshawa where he stayed his entire life. Working at the Genosha Hotel as a bell boy, taking that job to Bermuda for a bit which is where his love of travel probably began. He eventually found himself at the Worker's Compensation Board (WSIB) where he retired from in 1984. Not one to sit idle Bill began working for Armstrong Tours post retirement and his exuberant personality shone and he travelled extensively throughout that time. When he finally did 'retire' he would meet with his McDonalds gang every morning and then return home to his cats and any other wayward animals that found their way to his place. Bill eventually resided at White Cliffe Terrace where his personality shone through once again and the friend list continued to grow. Making staff smile and laugh and his caring nature garnered him many friends. Bill was an incredible father, nicknamed Dorothy's shadow as he was never far from her side. His love for Mitchell knew no bounds, from sitting in his car while Mitch, as a toddler, would go through bottles of windshield washer fluid to conversing with him as an adult about golf, a passion they both shared. The same love was showered to Dale, whether it was from the heart, the kitchen, golfing or just talking. The Cziranka home was a place of many gatherings and Bill always had food waiting and taxi service when everyone was ready to go home. Special thanks to his dear friend Ron who would continue to pick up dad every Sunday and go for breakfast and would check in throughout Covid. To Karen who loved him dearly and who made life at White Cliffe so enjoyable for him. To those at White Cliffe who loved and cared for dad like he was their own father/grandfather, you know who you are and are so appreciated. Dad loved and was loved by so many. There will be a burial and celebration of life for Bill in the spring at Mount Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to The Humane Society of Durham Region.
