It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother Alva, on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home in Brandon.
Mom had many talents, including opening The Wheeler Dealer Second-hand Store in Virden, authoring a book about her mother's life (Freedom for Edna), her very famous Alva's Secret Recipe Butter Tarts, and many other ideas that were always in her thoughts.
Our mom was very family oriented and will be forever remembered for her loving ways, her sense of humour, and the many songs and stories she enjoyed sharing time and again.
Alva is survived by her children, Barry (Kathy), Bryan (Brenda), Marty (Yvonne), Terry (Shari), Trudy, sister Isabel, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
We want to send our deepest gratitude to all the special staff at Hillcrest, for the loving attention our mother received and special thanks to her kind-hearted roommate/friend, Christine. You all made her time there much more enjoyable.
A celebration of Alva's life will take place at a later date and your party invite will be advertised in this paper.
If you feel so inclined, buy a couple 50 ml bottles of Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey and when the urge to take a swig hits you, it's Alva toasting life!
