On Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Joseph Brant Hospital, Gary passed away at the age of 75 years. Beloved husband of Beverley (nee Skewes) for 54 years. Loving father to Melinda (Mike) Tarantino and much-loved Poppa to Zoey and Maizie. He will be sadly missed by his mother-in-law, Lillian Skewes, whom he knew and loved as a mom. He is survived by his sister Carol (Stew) Roche and brothers Rick and David, younger sisters Fern and Faye, sisters-in-law Wendy (Hugh) Stimers, Roberta (Rick) Calderbank, Karen Skewes, as well as many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by many good friends, too numerous to mention. Gary owned and managed GaryTitley and Associates in Waterdown for 35 years and was well known in the community where he was a strong supporter of local interests. He served as treasurer for the Waterdown BIA, treasurer of the Waterdown Royal Canadian Legion Br.#551 for over 30 years, was a member of the Order of St. George, served as a Petty Officer first class RCNR, was a member of the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association, was a civilian instructor for Burlington Air Cadets (flying scholarship), was a volunteer for the Town of Flamborough for ten years, coached T-ball in Waterdown, and Amateur Radio VE3 DBL has gone silent. He loved to travel, especially to his favourite Caribbean paradise in Barbados. He was an avid hockey fan attending games with Mike Sr. to watch Mike Jr. coach and to cheer on the team. Friends visited with the family at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill Street North, Waterdown, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m. A Legion Service was held at 8:30 p.m. The Funeral Service took place on Monday, September 27, 2021, at 11 a.m. by invitation only due to pandemic gathering restrictions, Rev. Sue-Ann Ward officiating. Cremation followed with urn interment later in Grace Anglican Churchyard Cemetery. Donations to NASH (Canadian Liver Foundation) would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Please sign the Tribute Wall and find the Sign Up link at kitchingsteepeandludwig.com

Bev: We are just blown away by the loss of your beloved Gary. Gary was a huge support for me (Pat) after my mom’s passing. He did a terrific job preparing my mom’s tax return and subsequently going to bat for me with Revenue Canada. He was also great fun to bowl with. He was larger than life and will be truly missed. Our condolences to your family - Pat & Doug McGregor

I got to know Gary through the Order of St. George. I always appreciated his commitment to serve not only veterans, but also members -- past and present -- of Canadian Forces suffering from PTSD as a result of their service.

Please accept our most sincere condolences and know that in your grief, our thoughts will be with you.

I knew Gary (and Lillian) from the Waterdown Legion. He was such a nice fellow, fair and always willing to help. My deepest condolences to the family. Rest in peace
