Mr Conway was an incredible charismatic person. He brighten up that dusty basement Theatre arts classroom under the stairs. I have many fond memories of high school stage productions. Mr Conway will be missed, but touch so many. RIP Brian

So sorry to hear of Brian's passing. Brian and I spent many years teaching media at GCVI. What a wonderfully creative teacher he was and what an inspiration to me. He also was great with a screwdriver and a wrench.

I am so sorry for your loss, Linda. I know that you and Brian have had to overcome so many difficulties over the years, and that you have been a great source of strength. He was a good and kind man, and I know you will miss him terribly.

Yesterday , Rosemary Kennedy, Diane Swann and I met for a hike and a lunch where we toasted and remembered Brian, who really influenced us all in our early years of teaching because it seemed that not only could he inspire his students, he also could do the same for other teachers. Frankly, I doubt if I would have survived 1st year teaching without his encouragement. And of course he was always trying to interest any of us who would listen, into becoming involved in his drama plans. I knew nothing about putting on plays and yet I managed to become involved in Brian´s Shakespeare productions and then even to teach drama. I also remember your wedding day and somewhere I think there are even pictures! George remembers a famous go cart ride where you were the driver, and befor kids we did lots of socializing! So many fine dinners and good food.

One thing is for certain, Brian´s legacy as a teacher is secure. He influenced so many kids by inspiring them to give their best. Once, a member of the Centennial parent community actually said me that drama was so popular that no one could even find a baby sitter, because the kids were all so involved in rehearsals that they had no spare time! She actually said "Who is this Brian Conway anyway?"

We send our thoughts your way and the small comfort that we are all better for knowing Brian Conway as he enriched our lives by encouraging us to take on new challenges and to always be kind.

My condolences to Linda and family.
Brian was a wonderful teacher, an inspiration to so many at CWDHS, guiding young minds to explore their artistic capabilities with wild abandonment.

I'm eternally grateful for having had Brian in my life as a teenager. He brought out my creative side, to imagine the impossible and then make it happen. My love of theatre was forged in that basement classroom. While I went on to work in the corporate realm, he taught me "all the world's a stage" and we are but mere actors playing our role. I'd like to think this life is but a dress rehearsal and Brian has been called to the main stage as the curtain is about to rise on his most brilliant performance.

Brian, or as I knew him: Sarah´s Dad or Mr. Conway, was the no doubt the strong, silent type. He always welcomed me in to his home, even though I probably came by far too often, and overstayed my welcome most of the time.

Linda, thanks for being so kind hearted and trusting me to date your daughter (my high school sweetheart) back in the day. I recently showed my daughter my prom picture (with Sarah of course) as she prepares for her own prom/grad in the coming months...oh my, how time flies! My thoughts were with you all when Ryan passed way too prematurely. All the best to you all...Linda, Sarah and Dawn.

Brian Conway made a huge impact on education in Guelph and Wellington County. He taught at Centennial CVI (helping to open the school in 1967), Centre Wellington CVI, Guelph CVI, John F Ross CVI and retired from GCVI in 1998. Along the way he spent a sabbatical year in Calgary and taught half-time a number of years while he ran his children's theatre company Grand Theatre Projects. He touched many people during his career here.

I am heartbroken to hear the news of the passing of our friend, Brian. I worked with Brian for many years here in Florida with the HNJ Players. He was a wonderful man, who always encouraged and challenged me while we worked together putting on shows at HNJ. Brian directed Guys and Dolls at HNJ and has served as stage manager, set designer, set builder, special effects man and talented performer in many other productions. We kept in touch via email when he returned north each year, sharing news of our families, church and local theater productions. He was my friend, I will miss him. Sending prayers and condolences to Linda, his family and all who knew and loved him. Brian has taken his final bow and is at rest.

Mr. Conway, what an impact you had on my life--to this day, I greatly appreciate it. Your enthusiasm and support greatly influenced my interest in both English and drama, and today, I think in part credit to you, I work as a writer. You helped foster those early arts and language interests I had and I am so grateful for that. Thank you. And as Jennifer pointed out, you also helped foster our friendship, one that remains strong to this day and I thank you deeply for that as well.

My deepest sympathies to Linda and Family. To say Brian was passionate about Theatre is an understatement. My life was changed by this man . He encouraged me to come back to school and stagemanage Guys and Dolls and participate in his childrens theatre group . I went to Niagara college theatre school instead of working some mundane job for the rest of my life . So Thank you Brian for your support and encouragement. I know I was one of many students that he inspired to lead creative lives . His memory will live on in the many lives he touched .

Mr. Conway was without question one of my favourite teachers and had a major impact on my life as well as my education. He saw something in me at a young age that I didn't yet have the ability to see. He nurtured my love of theatre in so many different ways. Through his classes, through his direction, and through his support, I was given a lot of amazing opportunities that helped shaped me into who I am as an adult. He also inadvertently introduced me to my best friend Astrid. 36 years later we are still besties and I think that would have made him happy. Sending all my love to the Conway family during this difficult time. I hope you take comfort in what an impact he had on so many lives. Rest well Mr. Conway, you will be missed.
