Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Health Centre, Guelph on May 1, 2023 in her 92nd year. Janet was born in 1932 in Romford, Essex, England and was an evacuee during WW2. After training as a Registered Nurse and Midwife in the 1950s, she moved to the Grenfell Mission in Newfoundland, Canada. Then, after stints in Quebec City, Windsor, and Geraldton, she spent the rest of her career at Women's College Hospital, Toronto, mostly in ICU, Recovery Room, and Surgery. She was an avid traveller, skier, hiker, and singer. After retirement she moved to Guelph and was an involved volunteer at the River Run Centre and Guelph General Hospital (where she was known as "Nurse Rogers"). She enjoyed "crafts" with her quilting group, and loved to spend time gardening and babysitting the dog at friends Gale & Eric's home. Janet will be remembered and missed by longtime friends Gale & Eric Maginnis, Mary & Hugh Drennan, and Jane Unger. In her final years she was well looked after by caring staff at The Village of Riverside Glen and St. Joseph's Health Centre. Special thanks to Mary Haggarty who acted as the "lifeline" between Janet and Gale & Eric during the pandemic - Mary was amazing and her compassion and kindness to Janet over the past few years will be long remembered. In accordance with Janet's wishes cremation has taken place, and a graveside service and celebration of her life was held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. John Lawson officiating. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 /
