Dear Dr. Petrie, I was very saddened to hear of your loss. In Hebrew one says "may her soul be bound up in the bond of eternal life". I hope your memories of Catherine provide comfort. Be well, Daniel (a past student)

Cathy I met through her brother bob when they lived at 16 east 24th st. Bob was a good friend and I spent a lot of time at their house. Yes, & I knew the whole family. I remember going to the show with her to see the sound of music. Great person and great family. My condolences to the family.

My sympathy and condolences to the family of Catherine Gibbon. My sister in law Betty Halliwell was a good friend of Catherine's before her passing in 2002. Betty went on several trips to Killarney with Catharine and was quite literally in awe of her. She used to tell me so much about Catherine I almost felt I knew her. They were both avid conservationists and had a deep love of the outdoors. Betty came late in life to painting and almost considered Catherine to be somewhat of a mentor. As I read the wonderful tribute by Jeff Mahoney in the Spectator, I could almost hear Betty saying all of these things about Catherine. Her passing is a great loss to the art and wonderful heritage of our city. May her family find some peace and comfort in the knowledge of the beauty she contributed to all of us. Another beautiful star has been added to the night sky.

Sincere regards to her family.

Cathy was one of my first landscape teachers at DVSA in the eighty's and she has continued to inspire me with her own work over the years. Her passing is a great loss to the art community in Dundas and surrounding area. My heartfelt condolences to Cathy and her entire family.

My deepest sympathies to all of Catherine´s beautiful family. I learned more in one class with Catherine than I thought possible. She was the inspiration for our Monday´s Painters group. She will be deeply missed.
