Marlene COLE Obituary

March 7, 1933 - December 20, 2021

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene Cole, peacefully on December 20, 2021, in Hamilton, Ontario. Predeceased by her loving husband of 39 years, Bruce. Beloved mother to Brenda (Joseph Fortier), Sharon (Brian Lee), Lance Darren and Marlon (Mary). Loving Gramma to Rowan, Joshua (Alaina Lazdins), Jennifer and Larissa. Predeceased by her parents Stanley and Alma Wilkinson. Caring sister of the late Gordon (Barbara), the late Barbara (Lawrence St. Denis) and Donald (Glennis). She will be missed by many extended family and friends, including brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Margo Cole and cousins Jackie Markle and Audrey Logue. Marlene loved her family and community. She was a generous host, welcoming all to celebrate special occasions and everyday routines. She worked many jobs from the age of 14, while raising her family until her retirement from Sears Canada in 1998. Marlene especially cherished the enduring support and friendships built through her various interests. She was a valued member of the COFFA and Thesaurus Clubs of Ancaster. Together, Marlene and Bruce enjoyed touring with the old car clubs. Friendly competition via a game of bowling or cards brought a smile to her. She was a talented artist and instilled a passion for all entertainment onto her children and grandchildren through the love of galleries, live theatre, dancing, old movies and a good book. We are all wiser and stronger having had Marlene in our lives. A private service has taken place with burial at White Chapel Cemetery Hamilton, Ontario. A celebration of Marlene's life is planned for Summer 2022, as Public Health guidelines allow. The family would like to thank Reverend Doug Moore as well as the dedicated medical team and staff at Juravinski Hospital, Carrington Place and Dr. N. S. Fahmy for the care and respect they provided. For those who desire, memorial donations can be made to Hamilton-Burlington SPCA (www.hbspca.com) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca). Arrangements entrusted to Dodsworth and Brown Funeral Home, Ancaster (905)648-3852. Please sign the online Book of Condolence at www.dbancaster.ca.
