Edward Possberg Obituary

Edward (Ed) Possberg of Tenmile House, PEI passed away peacefully at his residence after a short illness. Growing up on a farm and later in the city of Humboldt Saskatchewan, Ed developed a strong commitment to family and friends, a lifelong love of nature, and a deep sense of gratitude and acceptance for all of life's machinations.
After attending the universities of Saskatchewan (Physical Education) and Alberta (Recreation), Ed settled in Calgary with his best friend and wife Christine MacFarlane to raise their family. Having completed an MBA (Calgary) he worked as an external and internal consultant with public sector organizations including the City and the University of Calgary.
Ed travelled widely with his work and as a tourist. In the late1980s Ed, Christine, and their first child, spent a year in Gaza City, as part of a CIDA project. After retiring in the Maritimes, Ed and Christine walked the Camino de Santiago. Ed's volunteer work took him to Vietnam on two occasions.
Athletic throughout his life, Ed played junior and university hockey, loved skiing with his family and fishing with his sons and brothers. But golf was his passion; not only because of its challenges but because through golf he forged his most treasured friendships. These friends, like others who knew him, valued his sincerity, wisdom, easy going manner, and overall joie de vivre.
Ed is survived by his wife and their three children Michael of Edmonton, Alberta, Robert of Moncton, New Brunswick and Morgan of Calgary, Alberta and their three grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers Tony (Estelle) of Calgary and Fred (Imelda) of Spruce Grove, Alberta and many nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary (nee Saretsky), sister Agnes Fahrenshcon, and brothers, Ken and Rudolph.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church, Tracadie PEI on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., celebrated by Rev. Gerard Chaisson. Donations can be made to the Cancer Society or a Charity of Your Choice.

Christine, Micheal, Robert and Morgan,
Donna and I extend our deepest sympathy for the loss of your husband and father. He was a good friend and a skilled opponent at the poker table. He will stand always as one of the nicest men I have ever known.
