Irene Kuemper

March 09, 1940 - September 11, 2023

Irene was born on March 9, 1940 in Humbolt, Saskatchewan to George and Clara Thieman. She grew up on the family farm 2 miles East of Humbolt with her siblings Paul, Helen, William (Bill), and Rita. Humbolt was dear to her heart as it is where she completed her high school years, started her career at the Co-op creamery, and later met the love of her life, Benno Kuemper. They were married on July 1, 1961 and then moved to Terrace where they continued to live and raise their son Lorne. Irene was an active member of the Catholic Woman's League (CWL) for most of her life, she enjoyed having family and friends visit at any opportunity – especially kids, grandkids, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed many camping trips, travelling adventures, card and dice games, and cooking for guests. Many of these memories were made with their friends, Mickey and Harley, Ivar and Jackie, George and Marg, Wilfred and Marie, George and Val, Denis and Michelle, to name a few and of course family. Irene loved life and enjoyed meeting new friends to laugh and share stories with. Together Irene and Benno made more friend at their new home in Prince George at the Riverbend. They spent endless hours reminiscing, dancing, and enjoying "happy hours". Irene left a lasting impression on all who knew her; she will be forever in our hearts.
Irene will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 62 years, Benno and their son Lorne (Karen), 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren:

Irene is also survived by her sisters Helen and Rita (Mel) of Humbolt; sister-in-law Dolores of Kelowna; brother-in-law Fred (Loretta) of Terrace, BC; sister-in-law Eleanor (Garvin) of Terrace, BC; sister-in-law's Eileen, Vivian, Helena and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Irene was predeceased by her parents George and Clara Thieman, her brothers Paul and William(Bill); brother-in-law Clarence; Parents in law John and Bernadina; brother-in-law Ray (Theresa), brother-in-law Joe (Charlotte), sister-in-law Maria (Marcel) and Lyle (nephew), Arthur (Paula) and Murray (nephew), brother- in-law Gilbert (Betty), brother-in-law Ron Kuechle; brother-in-law Ernst (Dorothy) and Terry (nephew), brother-in law Edwin (Dolores/Del).
