It's with heavy hearts we announce that the Captain took his final voyage on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, while holding the hand of his beloved daughter Jacqueline.
Bruce was 69 at the time of his passing and spent most of those years in Burlington. He had a lifelong career as a Stelco Steeler and was known to be something of a MacGyver to those who knew him. Always creating, inventing, or tinkering and would never hesitate to help you repair something, whether it was your computer or your lawnmower.
He was an avid outdoorsman with a love for fishing and a good old camping adventure. For decades Bruce loved his Monday night basketball games at Central High School until his knees decided it was time to throw in the towel. He traded the basketball for a 9 iron, and you would find Bruce on the fairway every Wednesday with his golf buddies. In the off-season, he was strapping on his skates with the Burlington Oldtimers Hockey Club, which was always a highlight for him.
While Bruce's love for sports was strong, it was unmatched by the love he had for his only Granddaughter, Olivia, who was a source of great joy and pride for him.
He is the adored father of Jacqueline (Lawrence) McFadden; best Grandpa by par to Olivia; dear brother of Phillip (Velma Crumblehulme) Walker; and cherished son of the late Allan and late Ruth Walker.
Anchors away, Captain Bruce! You will be forever in our hearts.
As per the Captain's wishes, there will not be a funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at Joe Dogs Gas Bar at a later date.
If desired, memorial contributions to the Cancer Assistance Program would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
