Passed away peacefully in her sleep at Swiss Line Farms, Sunday, September 11, 2022. Trudi will be deeply missed by her loving husband Walter of 66 years. A loving mother to Sandra (Steven), and Roland (Jeannine). A very proud "Trudi" to Ryan (Samantha) and Madison.
Trudi will be missed by her sisters Elisabeth, Alis and Margrit and their families and her special sister-in-law, Kathy Egger and son Peter (Mindy) and their children. Predeceased by her siblings Kurt, Bruno and Heidi.
Trudi will be missed by her many friends and extended family in Canada and in Switzerland. Trudi immigrated to Canada in 1952. She was a proud farmer and a proud Canadian. Trudi could always be found working in the dairy barn or in her beautiful gardens. She also did a number of trips around the world to visit family and friends. Along with frequent trips to Switzerland, she also went to South Africa, Brazil, Hong Kong and to the U.S.A.
In her later years she remained very active in her gardens on Swiss Line Farms. She was a great cook and baker. Her Sunday roasts with the family were famous! Making Swiss Christmas cookies and decorating Easter eggs with Ryan and Madison was a real tradition. Trudi's grandkids were always her pride and joy. Every moment with them was a proud moment for her. Playing "Jass" was another strong interest of hers. She could be really competitive at cards and she was always checking if anyone was cheating when counting the points.
Amazingly, she was very informed on World events, and an avid reader of the daily news. Her thriftiness and hard work meant little time for idleness and lounging around. Although in her later years she did enjoy relaxing outside in her chair watching the swans and checking the gardens. There were always pets around whether it was Quincy the parrot or various dogs and cats over the years. Trudi held the wisdom of a person that had seen a lot over her 90 years. Her legacy is one of being a dairy farmer, (always cleaning cows!!) and gardener. Being able to stay in the home that Trudi and Walter built together until the very end is exactly what she wanted and deserved. Trudi will be forever remembered for her profound voice, and her love of sweeping. Keeping everything meticulously clean was her life long mission and she did it with great pride!!!!!!!
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Swiss Line Farms, 5244 Steeles Avenue West, Milton, ON. A reception will follow.
