Helene Sheremeta Obituary

Our cute little Oma, our Superwoman and now our Christmas Angel unexpectedly bid us her final farewell at home early December 26, 2021. Our close little family was so gifted to have our Oma for so many memorable years. Oma was 92 years young. She was blessed with many great traits including her infectious smile, overall good health and her zest for life. Her sharp mind, keen sense of humour and spunk was still intact as she expressed her gratitude and got us laughing right til the end.

Helene Sheremeta (nee Kurz) was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and although she lived in Oakville for most of her life, she was still a prairie girl at heart. She FaceTimed with her sister and best buddy Rose every day, keeping up-to-date with local & family news. She loved her Roughriders. GO! GO! GO! NAIL THEM! was often her mantra while watching them play.

Helene was our Mom, Oma, Great-Oma, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Mother-In-Law, Sister-In-Law, Friend, Wine Buddy and our Confidant. She was loved by many and especially by her adoring children Randy, Lorrie, Karen (John) and Mark (Erin); her grandchildren Courtney, (Michael) and great-granddaughter Kaia, Madison (Carlisle), Hannah (Jack), Keelyn (Payne); John (Jaclyn), Will, Jennifer (Eduardo) and their families; Sister Rose (Jerome), Sister-in-Law Heather, niece Linda (Norm), nephew Dave (Jane), and all of her beloved nieces and nephews in the Sheremeta, Kurz, Hall and Pelletier clans. Helene was predeceased by her husband Wally, brother Joe and her parents Joe and Helene.

Helene led a full life nurturing and valuing her many and varied friendships of all ages. She loved her outings to Hopedale, Tim's and McDonald's meeting her friends for coffee before COVID shut everything down. Then there was Bronte in the nice weather. Many of her children's friends were her friends. She learned to use an iPad at the age of 90 which kept her in touch with the world through FB.
'Cute little Oma' became our social media star thanks to the many lunch and dinner posts showcasing her big smile with wine in hand. She loved to do her crosswords and word search most mornings, then spent the afternoons watching the oldie but goodie classic game shows from almost 50 years ago.
Our Oma is now reunited with her beloved Wally, our Dad and Opa as well as other family members and dear friends. She left us an amazing legacy and memories to last a lifetime. Thank you Oma. We love you forever.

Helene had a soft spot for the Ian Anderson House in Oakville, or any local charity you care to support in her memory however, simply paying kindness forward would be lovely.
