James Tourangeau Obituary

James (Jim) Tourangeau, 79, of Oakville, Ontario passed away suddenly on February 17, 2022, after a brief illness.

Jim was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec to father Joseph Tourangeau and mother Beatrice Tourangeau (nee Hilliam). He met his wife Joanne (nee Kowalsky) and started a family. His work in the consumer electronics industry took him and his family to Vancouver, BC then to Oakville, Ontario where he eventually retired after a successful career.

During retirement, Jim joined several local service organizations within the community. Although he loved helping others, he really enjoyed the fellowship and friends he made within those organizations. He was always quick with a joke to lighten the mood and couldn't wait for the snow to melt in order to get back out on the golf course with the gang. He also enjoyed watercolour painting, gardening, puttering in the garage with the next project, and spending time with friends and family.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, wife Joanne, and brother-in-law Paul Kowalsky. He will be greatly missed by his daughter Tina, son Dan (Christina), his grandchildren Nicola and Olivia, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gloria and Tony Covillo of Ottawa.

Cremation has already taken place and he will rest with his wife at St. Jude's Cemetery in Oakville. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

For those who are able, please give generously to the charity of your choice in his memory.

My husband, Geoff Arron, and I knew Jim from the Bronte Horticultural Society and the RBG. Every Christmas, Bronte Hort would have a potluck dinner. One year Jim distinguished himself mightily by wearing a shirt that matched the plastic tablecloths EXACTLY!! Naturally, he won a big prize! His sartorial elegance also fascinated the ladies!

I am deeply sadden to hear of Jim's passing!
Jim played a major role in my career by recommending my transfer to Toronto at Hitachi, always supporting and mentoring me and then years later working closely with me when Jim and I sold products independently. Jim and I shared a love for old cars and anything vintage. I remember one very early morning moving 15 heavy pinball machines that he purchased :)
I will also remember Jim as one who was always smiling and having a positive attitude.
Although it had been some time since we spoke I am so happy that we were able to catch up a few months ago via phone.
Love to the family - he was a great guy!
