John George DILLANE

DILLANE, John George Passed away peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Janet Dillane (nee Grant) for 56 years. Proud father of Vicki (Jake), Jennifer (Josef) and Andrew (Allison). Devoted grandfather to Rachel, Malcolm, Benjamin, Catriona and Charley. Survived by his brother Edward. Predeceased by his parents Dr. George and Thelma Dillane of Hamilton. John worked in the poultry industry for over 30 years as General Manager of T.M. Spratt Limited and an additional 25 plus years in the resort hotel business. Longtime resident of Burlington, John was an avid sports lover and athlete who had been a member of the Burlington Oldtimers Hockey Club and Millcroft Golf Club. In retirement, John enjoyed golfing, snow-birding to Florida and playing bridge at the Roseland club. Special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit at OTMH for their compassion and support. A memorial visitation will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME at 1167 Guelph Line on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 3 - 5 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. A service will be held at ST. CHRISTOPHER'S ANGLICAN CHURCH at 662 Guelph Line at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 6th; reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society of Ontario, please specify to Rheumatoid Arthritis research in John's name.
